Heat, lake,
silence.

Three wood-fired saunas on the shore of Lake Pitkäjärvi, forty minutes from Helsinki. Swim, steam, and leave the city on the other side of the forest.

Not a hot room. A slow afternoon.

Our smoke sauna is heated from ten in the morning for six hours. The lake stays open all year, with an ice hole from December. There are no screens in the saunas, and nobody will hurry you out.

Today

At KAISLA today

Public sessions have 24 places. Book ahead on Fridays and Saturdays; the rest of the week you can usually walk in.

03

Rest

Sit by the fire terrace with water or berry juice. Let your pulse come back down.

04

Repeat

Three or four rounds is a classic afternoon. Finish with a slow, warm round.

2–3 h total
Wooden jetty leading into a lake through pine trees

Swim. Steam.
Repeat.

The jetty is open every day of the year. In winter we cut an ice hole and keep a wood-fired tub on the shore for the walk back.
